ONTHEWEI recalls over 2,100 baby bath seats sold on Amazon due to drowning hazard

ONTHEWEI announced on October 12, 2026 that it is recalling more than 2,100 baby bath seats sold on Amazon in the United States after safety officials identified a drowning hazard.

The recall follows a Consumer Product Safety Commission notice that the seats violate the mandatory standard for infant bath seats because they are unstable and can tip over while in use, creating a risk of serious injury or death due to drowning.

The affected products, identified by model number MY002 and a manufacturer date of January 10, 2026, were listed on Amazon in April for between $40 and $50. They were offered in gray, pink, blue and mist‑green colors and feature detachable restraint arms and suction cups on the underside.

According to the notice, about 2,140 units are covered by the recall. No injuries or deaths have been reported to date, but regulators warned that the design flaw could lead to a child slipping into water if the seat tips.

Consumers are instructed to stop using the recalled bath seats immediately and contact ONTHEWEI for a full refund. The company also asks purchasers to destroy the product by writing “RECALLED” in permanent marker on the front, disassembling it by removing the back rest and arm restraints, and cutting the three suction cups on the underside. A photo of the destroyed seat should be sent to the company as proof.

ONTHEWEI and Amazon did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publication. The recall underscores the critical role of product safety testing and regulatory oversight in protecting young children from preventable hazards.
