Nancy Mace’s ex‑fiancé and two associates charged in 2018 sexual assault case

Rep. Nancy Mace’s former fiancé, Patrick Bryant, and two of his business associates, Eric Bowman and John Osborne, were arraigned on Wednesday on multiple sex‑related charges tied to a 2018 incident on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.

According to arrest affidavits, a 23‑year‑old woman consumed a large amount of alcohol on Oct. 26, 2018, fell into a swimming pool, removed her wet clothing and later passed out on a sofa, unable to speak coherently or walk. While she was unconscious, the three men allegedly discussed their options, agreed that Osborne would have sex with her, and that Bryant and Bowman would watch and photograph the act.

Osborne faces charges of first‑degree assault and battery and two counts of third‑degree criminal sexual conduct. Bowman is charged with voyeurism, obstruction of justice and publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct. Bryant is charged with voyeurism.

Law enforcement officials say security‑camera footage from the residence captured the assault, and a separate witness documented the event in a journal. The affidavit also notes that Bowman’s phone was erased after investigators sought it.

The trio was ordered not to contact the alleged victim or any witnesses. All three posted bond and were released from the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston County on the same day.

Mace first brought public attention to the men during a February 2025 House floor speech, where she claimed to have uncovered thousands of non‑consensual videos and photos tied to her ex‑fiancé and associates. She named a fourth individual, Brian Musgrave, but he has not been charged in connection with the 2018 incident.

The latest charges come as the investigation continues, with authorities reviewing additional evidence and determining whether any further individuals will face prosecution.
