Miguel Rojas retires after Dodgers’ NLCS sweep

Los Angeles Dodgers utility infielder Miguel Rojas announced his retirement Thursday, the day the Brewers completed a 6‑4 sweep of the National League Championship Series.

The 37‑year‑old two‑time World Series champion said the Game 4 loss was his final appearance on the field and that he will remain with the Dodgers organization in a different capacity.

“No, I think this is it, guys,” Rojas told reporters after the game. “This is it as a player. That was my last game played. That was the last time that I put these cleats on and this uniform on as a player.”

Rojas, who began his career with the Dodgers before a trade to the Miami Marlins, spent eight seasons in Miami and returned to Los Angeles ahead of the 2023 season. In his 13‑year major‑league career he appeared in 1,401 games, posted a .260 batting average, hit 61 home runs and drove in 386 runs.

He is perhaps best remembered for a clutch solo homer in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, which tied the contest and helped the Dodgers secure a back‑to‑back championship.

Looking ahead, Rojas said he intends to begin a new chapter on the “other side of this business” with the Dodgers, hinting at a role in player development or coaching. “I want to start my career on the other side of the of this business and I’m looking forward to do it here, with the Los Angeles Dodgers,” he added.

The Dodgers will now incorporate the veteran’s experience into their staff as the club prepares for the upcoming season, while fans and teammates reflected on his leadership, versatility and the lasting impact of his last four years in Los Angeles.
