May 29 2026: Amazon Lounge Chair Recall Highlights Product Safety Concerns
Amazon Lounge Chair Recall Highlights Product Safety Concerns
On May 29, 2026 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a nationwide recall of a popular outdoor lounge chair sold through Amazon and the manufacturer’s website. The recall follows a report that a customer lost a finger during the adjustment of the chair’s backrest mechanism, a circumstance that exposed a pinch‑point hazard.
The recalled model, produced by Giantex and identified by the model number NP10025NY, is a blue chair measuring 76 inches in length, 23 inches in width and 13 inches in height. It features a five‑position adjustable locking system with a backrest that can lift from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches. Approximately 1,155 chairs, sold between August 2023 and October 2025, were priced between $75 and $90.
According to the recall notice, the chair’s adjustment lever can trap fingers if they are placed too close to the pivot point, resulting in severing injuries. The regulator has therefore classified the product as posing an "amputation risk" and advised consumers to discontinue use immediately.
Customers who purchased the chair are instructed to verify the model number on the packaging. Those who confirm that their product is subject to the recall should contact Giantex to request a full refund. The manufacturer offers two options: return the chair using a prepaid label or destroy the chair by detaching the headrest, cutting the fabric, and providing photographic evidence to Giantex.
Public safety agencies stress that product recalls can surface unexpectedly, even on platforms with rigorous vetting processes such as Amazon. Consumers are encouraged to research sellers, check for manufacturer websites, and remain alert to safety notices that may affect everyday items.
Industry observers note that the recall underscores the importance of design safeguards around adjustment mechanisms for outdoor furniture. Companies are urged to reassess pinch points and consider fail‑safe designs that eliminate user exposure to high‑force contact.
For now, the recall represents a reminder that even seemingly innocuous purchases can carry hidden risks. Authorities urge vigilance and immediate action when a product is flagged for potential harm.
