June 1, 2026: Virginia Couple Assaults First Responders During Fire Suppression
On Monday, June 1, 2026, emergency responders arriving at a vehicle fire at Tangeon Outdoors in Pembroke, Virginia, were met with resistance from the car’s occupants. Firefighters from the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department and deputies from the Giles County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) intervened as the vehicle continued to smoke and flames threatened the surrounding area.
According to the GCSO, the two occupants, 44‑year‑old Tynisha Lenea Scott of Gallion, Alabama, and 40‑year‑old Robert Leon Bryan of Eureka, California, allegedly assaulted multiple first responders. Three fire department members and two deputies filed injury reports, though all received treatment and were released shortly afterward.
Video footage released online shows the confrontation escalating into a brawl, leading to the arrest of both individuals. Scott faces charges of resisting arrest, child endangerment, three counts of assault on a firefighter, and two counts of assault on a law‑enforcement officer. Bryan is charged with resisting arrest, child endangerment, three counts of assault on a firefighter, and one count of assault on a law‑enforcement officer. Both are being held without bond in the New River Valley Regional Jail.
The incident underscores the challenges emergency personnel face when civilians obstruct rescue efforts and highlights the importance of swift law‑enforcement response to ensure public safety.
