James Dolan‑funded Super PAC pours seven‑figure spend into New York AG race backing Saritha Komatireddy

On Oct. 11, 2026, the Super PAC Strong and Safe New York announced a seven‑figure investment in the New York state attorney‑general race, deploying billboards across Long Island, Westchester and Rockland counties to promote Republican candidate Saritha Komatireddy.

The PAC, funded by New York Knicks owner James Dolan along with retired casino mogul Steve Wynn and other donors, has already become a major financial backer of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman. Its new advertising push marks the latest effort to leverage wealthy support for the AG contest.

Komatireddy, a 42‑year‑old former federal prosecutor, has been highlighted as a candidate who can restore “safety and security” to the state, according to the PAC’s spokesperson. She previously served as chief of staff for the Drug Enforcement Administration and handled high‑profile terrorism, cybercrime and narcotics cases in the Eastern District of New York.

"New York finally has a chance to restore safety and security by electing Saritha Komatireddy as the next Attorney General," Strong and Safe New York spokesperson Carson Steelman said.

The billboards feature the PAC’s slogan “Strong and Safe New York” and promise a tougher stance on crime, contrasting with Governor Kathy Hochul and incumbent AG Letitia James, who are accused of “soft‑on‑crime” policies. Steelman added that crime levels remain above pre‑COVID figures, homelessness persists in Manhattan, and hate crimes have risen sharply.

Komatireddy’s résumé includes prosecuting terrorists linked to al Qaeda, ISIS and Mexican drug cartels, as well as a clerkship for then‑Judge Brett Kavanaugh on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. She holds degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law School and teaches at Columbia Law School.

Incumbent Letitia James, 67, has built a national profile by filing lawsuits against former President Donald Trump and his businesses, and by overseeing the investigation that led to former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s resignation. James’s campaign has dismissed the PAC’s support for Komatireddy, characterizing her as “Donald Trump’s handpicked candidate” backed by “billionaire cronies.”

The race unfolds in a state where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans nearly two to one—about six million Democrats to 2.8 million Republicans, with an additional 3.4 million unaffiliated voters. No Republican has won a statewide election in New York since former Governor George Pataki in 2002.

Strong and Safe New York’s spending comes in the final weeks before New York’s November 3 election, underscoring the high stakes for both the AG and governor contests. The PAC’s aggressive advertising strategy aims to shift voter perception in suburban counties that could prove pivotal in a tight race.

The next development will be the impact of the PAC’s billboards and other outreach as early voting begins, with both campaigns positioning themselves for a decisive push before Election Day.
