Freddie Freeman stays confident after Dodgers fall 2-1 to Brewers in NLCS Game 1

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 2-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Oct. 10, 2026, at American Family Field.

First baseman Freddie Freeman said the defeat was disappointing but emphasized that the series is long and the team remains confident, noting, “Any loss in the playoffs is not great, but it’s a long series. It’s just the first game.”

The Brewers took the lead in the fourth inning when second baseman Brice Turang hit a solo home run. They extended the advantage in the fifth with an RBI single by 21‑year‑old Luis Lara, scoring Garrett Mitchell.

Los Angeles answered early, scoring in the second inning when Andy Pages drove in Shohei Ohtani with a single to right field. The Dodgers were unable to add to the lead, going 1‑for‑6 with runners in scoring position and leaving nine baserunners on base.

Milwaukee started rookie Jacob Misiorowski, who worked 4 ⅓ innings, delivering 94 pitches, allowing five hits, one run and three walks while striking out five batters. He exited after 94 pitches, having limited the Dodgers to a single run.

Tarik Skubal, the Dodgers’ two‑time Cy Young winner, lasted five innings, throwing 81 pitches, giving up two runs and recording seven strikeouts before being pulled. The Brewers’ bullpen, anchored by closer Trevor Megill, held the lead through the ninth inning.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team must sharpen its approach at the plate, urging players to “see the ball a little longer to spoil pitches, to shoot the ball the other way.”

With the series now tied at 1‑0, the Dodgers will turn to World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto for Game 2, hoping to spark a comeback on the road.
