Conor Kennedy and Brazilian pop star Giulia Be wed in Rio de Janeiro celebration

Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., married Brazilian pop star Giulia Bourguignon Marinho in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 8, 2026, beginning a three‑day celebration that included a blessing at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

The event highlighted the couple’s desire to showcase Rio’s beaches, mountaintops and historic streets, with the first day launching a welcome party in the hills of Alto da Boa Vista. The next day, guests played beach volleyball on Ipanema before gathering beneath Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain for a short ceremony.

Giulia, who performs under the name Giulia Be, told the outlet that the celebration was meant to honor the city she loves. "We wanted to celebrate not just the wedding, but also Rio de Janeiro, the city we love," she said.

Religious rites continued at the downtown Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, a historic church dating back to 1808 that once served as the royal chapel for the Portuguese court. The venue, commonly called the Antiga Sé, sits in Rio’s historic center near Praça XV de Novembro, a square known for its Saturday flea market.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds hosted a reception at Instituto Brando Barbosa in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, a historic mansion adjacent to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. The setting offered guests views of the city’s lush greenery and iconic skyline.

Conor and Giulia had previously exchanged civil vows in Los Angeles in March, according to Vogue, but chose Rio for the public celebration to bring together family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic. The bride recalled telling her fiancé, "My love, I love you, but I’m not getting married in Massachusetts," emphasizing the importance of the Brazilian setting.

Family members, including RFK Jr. and his wife Cheryl Hines, were photographed cheering the couple beneath the towering statue, with Hines dancing alongside samba performers. In an Instagram comment, Giulia wrote, "Love you, Bobby," while she added that seeing friends enjoy her hometown made the day unforgettable.

Vogue noted that Giulia wore a Calvin Klein slip dress for the Christ the Redeemer blessing that evoked the understated elegance of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Conor’s late aunt by marriage.

The high‑profile wedding drew attention not only for the Kennedy connection but also for its contribution to Rio’s tourism, as fans of the new couple and the city’s iconic landmarks streamed images across social media.

With the celebrations concluded, the couple looks forward to settling into married life while continuing to split time between the United States and Brazil, according to statements from the family.
