Broncos defeat Seahawks 17-14 as ex‑QB Ben DiNucci slams Bo Nix’s play
The Denver Broncos beat the Seattle Seahawks 17‑14 in overtime on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at Empower Field at Mile High.
Bo Nix threw for just 107 yards on 17 of 27 attempts, averaging four yards per attempt, as Denver managed only 168 total yards of offense. Wil Lutz’s 53‑yard field goal in overtime secured the win, while the defense forced two turnovers in the final minutes.
“Bo Nix is not playing competitively,” veteran quarterback‑turned‑analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick said on the Prime Video post‑game show. “It’s almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how he’s playing football right now.”
Fitzpatrick added that Nix “doesn’t want to throw the ball” and often relies on screens that waste clock, pointing to a lack of trust from head coach Sean Payton. Former Broncos quarterback Ben DiNucci, then a CBS Sports analyst, posted a now‑deleted X comment that the offense “would rather watch paint dry,” before deleting the post and apologizing for the harsh language.
“I was doing a disservice to Bo and the guys in that locker room who were my teammates,” DiNucci wrote after removing the original remark.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky echoed the sentiment, describing Nix as a quarterback who “looks like he doesn’t want the football” and appears afraid of making mistakes.
Denver’s offensive struggles have continued despite head coach Sean Payton taking over play‑calling duties from offensive coordinator Davis Webb last week. Nix’s season numbers through six starts include 1,049 passing yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions, a 60.3 % completion rate, 5.6 yards per attempt and a passer rating of 41.5, well below his early‑career averages.
The Broncos’ defense, however, remained the story’s bright spot, intercepting Seattle’s Sam Darnold twice and sacking him five times while the special teams unit forced a pivotal three‑and‑out in the final minute of regulation.
Denver improves to 4‑2 and remains second in the AFC West, but the continued offensive woes suggest the team will need to address its passing game before the next matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 25.
