The U.S. Must Exit the United Nations: A Congressional Call to Action

The United States is poised for a historic shift. With President Trump’s January 20, 2025, executive order withdrawing us from the World Health Organization (WHO), the stage is set to break free from another overreaching body: the United Nations (UN). Voices like Elon Musk urge Congress to act, and they’re right—leaving the UN is essential to protect American sovereignty and interests. Here’s why we must exit now, and why Congress should make it happen.

Sovereignty Under Siege

The UN threatens our independence. Its subsidiary, the WHO, pushed a pandemic treaty championed by Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus, warning of “Disease X” and demanding global compliance by May 2024. This treaty aimed to control how nations, including the U.S., handle crises—a clear overreach. The UN amplifies such efforts, eroding our constitutional right to self-governance. Programs like the International Court of Justice and the Law of the Sea Treaty, rejected by the U.S., further illustrate the UN’s disregard for our autonomy. Why stay in an organization that treats our sovereignty as optional?

A Haven for Tyranny

The UN has become a platform for anti-American regimes. As Senator Mike Lee noted in February 2025 on X, it’s “a megaphone for people who hate America.” Nations like China wield outsized influence, condemning U.S. policies while we bankroll 22% of the UN’s budget—hundreds of millions annually that could secure our borders instead.

The WHO Exit Sets the Stage

The WHO withdrawal proves we can cut ties with burdensome global entities. Criticized for its COVID-19 failures, China’s influence, and our 18% budget share, the WHO mirrors the UN’s flaws: unfair costs, inefficiency, and mission drift. House Resolution 79, introduced by Congressman Andy Biggs in 2023, paved the way for the WHO exit. Now, the “Disengaging Entirely from the United Nations Debacle (DEFUND) Act” from Senator Mike Lee and Representative Chip Roy offers a blueprint to leave the UN. Congress must seize this moment.

Waste and Moral Failures

The UN’s inefficiency and ethical compromises seal the case. Its bureaucracy wastes resources, and peacekeeping flops—like the 1990s Yugoslavia mess—highlight its futility. The Human Rights Council, featuring abusers like China, mocks its own mission. We shouldn’t legitimize a body that equates democracies with dictatorships.

Congress, Act Now

Congress, the American people demand action. The border crisis, election integrity, and global tyranny via the UN, WHO, and World Economic Forum top your list of failures to address. Musk’s call to exit the UN echoes our frustration with globalist overreach. Pass the DEFUND Act—cut funding, evict the UN from New York, and reclaim our freedom. The WHO exit shows it’s doable; the UN’s record proves it’s urgent. Don’t wait for another “Disease X” scare or UN power grab. Uphold your oath, defend our Constitution, and put America first. Leave the UN now!
