Jasmine Crockett’s Reckless Remarks Demand Accountability

On March 20, 2025, U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) made an inflammatory statement during a livestream with the #TeslaTakedown group, declaring, “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.” Her birthday, March 29, 2025, aligns with planned protests at 277 Tesla locations in the U.S. and over 500 worldwide, organized by the same group. This deliberate provocation has sparked justifiable outrage, exposing Crockett’s blatant disregard for the consequences of her words. As a member of Congress, she should be held to the highest standard—not coddled for rhetoric that teeters on the edge of criminality.

Crockett’s phrase, “taken down,” is a loaded gun. It could imply economic sabotage, given #TeslaTakedown’s calls to tank Tesla’s stock, or it could be read as a personal threat against Elon Musk himself. This vagueness is not a defense—it’s an indictment. In the context of coordinated protests billed as a “day of economic sabotage,” her words amplify a volatile situation. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) labeled it “political terrorism,” a charge that carries weight when a lawmaker’s statement aligns so closely with planned disruption. Crockett’s defenders might cry free speech, but incitement has limits, and she’s dancing perilously close to that line.

This isn’t Crockett’s first lapse. In February 2025, she publicly told Musk to “f*** off” during a protest, revealing a consistent hostility. Her latest comment escalates that animosity into something far more sinister. Public officials wield influence that demands restraint, yet Crockett flouts this duty with impunity. Her platform isn’t a toy for settling scores—it’s a responsibility she’s abusing. The potential for her words to inspire real harm, whether economic or physical, cannot be ignored.

The United States cannot afford leaders who stoke division and chaos with such flippancy. Crockett’s statement isn’t just inappropriate—it’s a disgrace to her office. In a climate already rife with tension, her rhetoric risks normalizing threats against individuals and businesses. She should face more than criticism; she should face consequences. Censure is the bare minimum—her actions warrant investigation into whether they cross into criminal territory. A lawmaker who hints at “taking down” a citizen, paired with organized protests, doesn’t belong in Congress. She belongs behind bars, answering for the reckless endangerment of public safety and trust. Anything less is a failure of justice.
